Julie Johnston is a teacher, teacher trainer, adult educator. She used to teach French (grades 4-12) and served four years as the FSL curriculum coordinator for School District 57 (Prince George). She has worked with student teachers at four universities, and has given presentations to educators and community members in Canada, USA, India, Thailand and the Philippines. In 2005-2007, she was the first Coordinator of Environment and Sustainability Programs at Upper Canada College in Toronto. She is now back living on Pender Island, where she is the resource teacher for the Spring Leaves Family Learning program, a 21st century experiment in home/school-based education. In 2012, Julie trained with Al Gore and now offers Climate Reality slide shows. Through GreenHeart Education (www.greenhearted.org), she works with educators around the world (Canada, USA, Malaysia, Philippines, Ethiopia, Colombia and others) who want to green the heart of their classroom, curriculum and school community. Julie is a passionate climate change emergency activist on behalf of the Earth, the future, and the children of all species.
